LAVA

We just returned from a mini-getaway at Terry's Lavalette beach house. It was a fun-filled weekend with the kids, and Terry spoiled us rotten. We arrived early yesterday morning, and we immediately had to call poison control, after we realized that Andrew ate 1/4 of his tube of Toy Story toothpaste during the car ride (thankfully a TUMS tablet and a glass of milk was his remedy). Once our little man was taken care of, we took a long along the bay and stopped at a nearby playground. Grace and Andrew were happy to run around, and Kate enjoyed watching them from Terry's arms. Before heading back to Terry's for some lunch, we walked along the boardwalk and stopped at a gazebo to eat some crumb cake. We also had to sneak a peak at the beach and run our toes through the sand. We had a fun afternoon in Point Pleasant, and then returned back to the house for a delicious meal. Grace and Andrew loved having "a sleepover" at Terry's, and last night, Andrew slept in a big boy bed for the first time.

We were greeted this morning with a scrumptious breakfast complete with eggs, bacon, and crumb cake. Then, we took a long walk along the Lavalette boardwalk. When we're visiting, we always wind up toying with the idea of getting a beach house one day. It's so nice going down to the Jersey Shore. I love when we have uninterrupted family time. We love sitting on Terry's deck and looking out at the bay. We sat out there this afternoon and enjoyed a quick lunch. We had a great time at the beach. We took our first dip in the ocean, searched for "treasure," flew a beautiful butterfly kite, and played "Let's Get Her." While we were playing with Grace and Andrew, Kate snuggled with Terry, and she took a little siesta. Before we headed home, Terry and her mom, Katherine, prepared us one of my favorite meals... pork tenderloin with applesauce and fresh corn on the cob. We topped off our dinner with delicious sundaes (complete with wet walnuts... yum!). It was a perfect weekend filled with beautiful weather, fun activities, and a gracious host. A big THANK YOU to Terry for such a wonderful weekend!

"Matchy, Matchy"
Grace and Andrew had fun making "sand angels."
They also enjoyed a "picnic" lunch overlooking the bay.
When we arrived at the Jenkinson's Boardwalk in Point Pleasant, all 3 of our babies were asleep! We quickly loaded them up, and we headed to the nearest bar to enjoy a drink and beautiful view.
Kate was up before the drinks arrived, and we enjoyed spending some quality time with our baby. Dan and I kept talking about how fortunate we are to have 3 healthy and happy children. We enjoyed our steamers and oysters, and before we knew it, our babies were all up and ready to hit the rides.

They had a great time "fishing" off of Terry's deck.
A trip to Lavalette is never complete without crumb cake and fun cookies from The Colonial Bakery.
