It's Autism Awareness Day, and my nephew, Wally, gave an amazing speech in front of his entire school this afternoon. I am such a proud Aunt, and I was happy to be part of such a special assembly at Lincoln Ave Elementary School. Wally is such a great big brother, and his speech helped educate his schoolmates about the importance of including and being kind to autistic children. He was incredibly brave to get up in front of such a large crowd. Maylene also arranged for a woman from "Heeling Autism" to give a speech about their specially trained guide dogs. The assembly went well, and it was impressive to see so many people wearing blue! After the children headed back to class, Nicky got up on stage and used the microphone, too! He is such a sweetheart! It was a memorable afternoon!
